August 08, 2024 | USC Athletics, Men's Swimming & Diving, Track & Field, Women's Water Polo, Olympics
USC is assured a gold medal in women’s water polo with Anni Espar (Spain) and Tilly Kearns (Australia) helping their teams win semifinal games today in Paris.
PARIS, FRANCE — USC's Anna Cockrell raced to a silver medal and a personal best time in the women's 400-meter hurdles today, claiming the second medal earned by a Trojan so far in Paris. Her effort marks the fourth 400m hurdles medal in the last five Olympics for USC, and gives Cockrell her first Olympic medal. USC is assured to win a gold medal in women's water polo thanks to the efforts of current Trojan Tilly Kearns (Australia) and alum Anni Espar (Spain), who both helped their nations win in tense semifinal games today to advance to the gold-medal game. Meanwhile, three more Women of Troy — Emily Ausmus, Kaleigh Gilchrist and Amanda Longan — will fight for bronze medals following Team USA's loss in a penalty shootout to Australia. Also today, three USC track standouts earned advancement to finals, with TeeTee Terry helping the Team USA women win their heat in the 4x100 relay, while Canadians Aaron Brown and Andre De Grasse teamed up to help Canada place third in the men's 4x100 heat. See below for full results and statistics for USC athletes in Paris today.
