Larkin Brown Joins USC Rowing Staff As Assistant Coach
August 26, 2024 | Women's Rowing
A standout at Virginia, Brown is added to head coach Kelsie Chaudoin’s coaching staff for 2024-25.
An ACC champion and All-ACC first team selection as a student-athlete at Virginia, Larkin Brown has taken her collegiate rowing experience to the coaching realm. After working with USRowing's Olympic Development program, Brown is set to serve as an assistant coach at USC on head coach Kelsie Chaudoin's staff. Brown joins fellow Trojan assistants Allison Foster and Jake Power, who will help Chaudoin lead the 2024-25 USC rowing squad into their first season competing in the Big Ten Conference.
"Larkin is one of the strongest leaders I have had the opportunity to work with in my time as a college coach," Chaudoin said of Brown, who rowed at UVA while Chaudoin was associate head coach for the Cavaliers. "She is hard-working, bright, tenacious and mature beyond her years, and has a great sense of humor to boot. Larkin is also a straight shooter who has the ability to connect and inspire everyone around her, and I am certain she will be an asset to the young women on the team here at USC. She has developed quickly as a coach, working with the Olympic Development team this summer, and we are excited for her to join the staff here at USC!"
In addition to her work with USRowing as an associate coach this past summer, Brown also coached at the prep level in Chattanooga, Tenn. A 2023 graduate of Virginia, Brown was a co-captain as a senior. She was a member of UVA's ACC title-winning Second Varsity Eight in 2022 and also won an ACC title in the 2021 Varsity Four. In 2023, she helped UVA's Varsity Eight take second at the ACC Championships and 11th at the NCAA Championship.
"I am truly honored to be joining the USC family this year," Brown said. "Having had the privilege of rowing under Kelsie at UVA, I am eager to work alongside her once again to cultivate the next generation of women's rowing. USC's dedication and support to women's athletics is evident in its sustained excellence both on and off the water. Coupled with Kelsie's unwavering commitment to athlete development and her deep understanding of the sport, I am confident that under her leadership, and with the support of her coaching staff, the team will be elevated to new heights of success. I am excited to be a part of this journey. Fight On!"
A native of Ringold, Ga., she earned a silver medal with Team USA in women's Eight at the 2018 Junior Rowing Worlds in the Czech Republic. Brown earned a degree in government and history from UVA and also has been involved with community outreach.Â
