July 23, 2024 | Women's Basketball
Women of Troy take on Ole Miss in Paris for an Aflac Oui-Play game.
The USC women's basketball team is set to take the stage in Paris for an Aflac Oui-Play game to start the Trojans' 2024-25 season. On November 4, USC will face Ole Miss in a season-opening clash in Paris, France, to kick off opening day for collegiate women's basketball.
"We are honored and excited to have been selected to play in the Paris game in 2024," USC head coach Lindsay Gottlieb said. "What an incredible platform: to open the season in an iconic city, on the heels of the Olympics, bringing USC to an international audience. I'm looking forward to sharing this opportunity with our players, creating lifelong memories and being a part of an important moment for women's basketball as we kick off the new season."
USC's 2024 clash with Ole Miss will mark the first-ever meeting between the two programs. Ole Miss is coming off a 2023-24 season that saw the Rebels post a 24-9 record with run to the NCAA Second Round I the program's third consecutive NCAA appearance.
Gottlieb's USC women posted a powerful 2023-24 campaign that saw the Women of Troy earn the program's first No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament since 1986 and make a historic run to the 2024 NCAA Elite Eight, winning the Pac-12 Tournament championship along the way. Ranked No. 3 in the nation entering the 2024 NCAA Tournament, the Trojans achieved their highest national ranking since standing at No. 3 in the final AP poll of 1986. USC finished off the season ranked No. 5 in the final AP poll.
Grad transfers Kiki Iriafen and Talia von Oelhoffen join fellow All-Pac-12 honorees Rayah Marshall and JuJu Watkins for a 2024-25 Trojan team that also boasts the top-ranked freshman class in the nation in Rian Forestier, Kayleigh Heckel, Avery Howell, Vivian Iwuchukwu, Brooklyn Shamblin, Kennedy Smith and Laura Williams. The USC women are looking to increase the momentum built in their 29-6 record and Elite Eight run last season, when Gottlieb was named a finalist for the Naismith Coach of the Year Award and Watkins was selected a Naismith finalist as well as the winner of National Freshman of the Year awards.
USC's game vs. Ole Miss is one of two women's basketball Oui-Play games taking place in a doubleheader on Nov. 4 at Adidas Arena in Paris. Game times are set for 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. local Paris time (9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. PT), with the venue and tipoff assignments to be determined.
