USC Lacrosse Falls in Pac-12 Semifinal

The Trojans fall just short of a championship berth, as they lost to the Colorado Buffaloes 12-9
LOS ANGELES – No. 24-ranked USC lacrosse (12-5, 6-2 Pac-12) fell to the Buffaloes (13-5, 6-2 Pac-12) during the semi-finals of the Pac-12 Tournament on Thursday, May 2 at the L.A. Memorial Coliseum.

The Trojans will see if they get picked for the NCAA postseason live on Selection Sunday at 6 PM on Sunday on ESPN2.

KEY PLAYERS
- Senior Maggie Brown netted five of the nine goals of the game. Claudia Shevitz had two goals and Shelby Tilton and Sloane Murphy each scored once.
- USC's Kait Devir saved a total of nine balls and Anna Regan had six draw controls.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Buffaloes saw a strong start to the first quarter, placing the first point on the board. Shelby Tilton had the first Trojan goal at minute 10:25, followed by two goals from Maggie Brown. USC maintained four draw controls, picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Going into the second quarter, USC trailed 5-3.
- The second quarter saw an improvement for USC defensively, allowing only three Buffalo goals. The Women of Troy picked up four ground balls and caused two turnovers. Sloane Murphy and Claudia Shevitz both found the back of the net, bringing the score to 8-5 Buffalo heading into the half.
- USC had a good third quarter defensively, picking up four ground balls, causing four turnovers, and maintaining the majority of the draw controls. The Trojans entered the final quarter down 10-5.
- The fourth quarter saw a comeback by the Women of Troy, scoring four points and only allowing two by the Buffaloes. Unfortunately, this was not enough to turn the game, and USC lost 12-9 in the semifinals of the Pac-12 tournament.

GAME NOTES:
- USC is now 7-4 all-time in the Coliseum and 5-3 in home games for the 2024 season.
- USC Lacrosse now leads 14-6 all-time against Colorado.
- USC is now 2-4 when trailing at the half.
