USC Rowing finishes in third place both days of the Ivy League Invitational
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 20 USC women's rowing team finished third in all races on the last day of the Ivy League Invitation on April 13. USC entered three boats in the invitational: Varsity Four, Second Varsity Eight, and Varsity Eight, and competed against Princeton and Rutgers.
WHAT HAPPENED
- On day 2, the Varsity Eight kicked off the invite for the Trojans and came in at 6:43.465 for third place, 18 seconds behind Rutgers, with their time being 6:25.877.
- The Second Varsity Eight was next on the water for the Trojans. Sophomore Ellen Ariathurai coxed the Women of Troy to third place at 6:53.409. Rutgers was 20 seconds ahead with a time of 6:53.409.
- The Varsity Four finished the day of racing for USC in third place at 07:46.204. Rutgers preceded the Trojans in second place, with a time of 7:28.518.
TROJAN BOATS
- So. Sage Saperstein coxed for the Varsity Four. Michaela Banta, Kristin George, and Abbie Diemer filled the boat with Rhese Abrams in the bow seat.
- Fr. Ellen Ariathurai coxed for the Trojan's Second Varsity Eight. Grace Eamer sat the stroke seat for the Trojans. Chloe Amling, Chiara Meakin, Isabella Korellis, Julia Karten, Isabella Lysaker, and Clare Widzgowski, followed by Alex DeLisle, succeeded in the stroke seat.
- Sr. Eden Cooper-Squires coxed for the Varsity 8+. In the stroke seat was Grete Alttoa. Following Alttoa were Zoe McCutcheon, Annabel Aron, Ingrid Brast, Celia Marino, Amy Clare Naughton, Anastasiia Slivina, and in the bow was Raquel Rodriguez.
QUOTE FROM COACH
"We made some adjustments from yesterday and raced a little better today. Still, we have work to do. As a team, we know that we aren't where we need to be.
We have a few weeks to prepare for our next opportunity. We are entirely focused on improving ourselves for that race."
