USC Diving’s Shangfei Wang Claims Consolation Final at NCAA Championships

INDIANAPOLIS – USC junior Shangfei Wang won the consolation final of the men's 3-meter diving competition to highlight the Trojans efforts during the third day of action at the 2024 NCAA Championships.
Through three days of competition, USC is tied for 29th with 9 total points. Arizona State leads the way with 343 points.
Wang tallied 411.25 points during the consolation final to take the event and pick up All-America second team honors. During prelims, Wang accumulated 375.65 points to finish 11th. Trojan Laurent Gosselin-Paradis finished 40th with 283.40 points.
USC freshman Michal Chmielewski clocked a personal best in the 100y butterfly, blasting a 45.93 for 32ndoverall.
A pair of Trojans appeared in the 100y breaststroke, with Ben Dillard (52.88) and Chris O'Grady (53.40) finishing 37th and 39th, respectively.
Competing in the 100y backstroke, senior Vaggelis Makrygiannis finished 30th in 45.95, also a personal best time. Unfortunately, Trojan M. Chmielewski suffered a disqualification during prelims as he was hit with a false start penalty.
