No. 5 USC Swimming Wraps Third Evening of NCAA Championships with Three All-American Performances

ATHENS, Ga. – The No. 5 USC women's swimming team, led by first-team All-Americans Minna Abraham and Kaitlyn Dobler, turned in three top-eight finishes to highlight the third evening of competition at the NCAA Championships.
Through three evenings of competition, USC currently sits in sixth place with 157 points. Virginia leads the way with 360.5 points.
Trojan freshman Minna Abraham got the Trojans going during finals, clocking a 1:41.96 to finish third and earn All-American honors in the event. The 17-year-old was also third during prelims, posting a 1:42.79. Abraham is the first Trojan to earn All-America honors in the event since Chelsea Chenault in 2015.
Moments later, USC senior Kaitlyn Dobler also earned a third-place spot on the podium, clocking a school record worthy time of 56.67 in the 100y breaststroke championship final. During prelims, Dobler posted a 57.18 to earn her spot in the A-final. This marked the fourth straight season the Portland native has earned All-America honors in the event.
Swimming in the consolation final of the 100y backstroke, senior Caroline Famous finished sixth in 51.44. During prelims, Famous clocked a 51.01 to finish ninth overall (missed the championship final by .02).
The Women of Troy closed out the third evening of competition with a school record-worthy swim in 400y medley relay as Famous, Dobler, Anicka Delgado and Abraham combined to post a 3:25.76 for fifth. This marks USC's third All-American relay at the NCAA Championships so far this year.
Action continues tomorrow with swimming prelims set to begin at 10 a.m. PT at the Gabrielsen Natatorium.
