The Women of Troy have signed 6-5 transfer outside hitter Ally Batenhorst
LOS ANGELES – The USC women's volleyball team has signed transfer outside hitter Ally Batenhorst (Houston, Texas/Seven Lakes HS) to join the team in the 2024 season, head coach Brad Keller announced on Monday, Feb. 5.
Â
Batenhorst—the 2020-21 Gatorade High School Texas and National Player of the Year—played three seasons at Nebraska and helped the Cornhuskers to NCAA runner-up finishes in 2021 and 2023, and a regional semifinal appearance in 2022.
Â
"The addition of Ally Batenhorst is a game-changer for our program," said Keller. "She is accomplished and has played at the highest level of collegiate volleyball throughout her career. Ally is a great teammate and leader; and a person who reinforces what the USC standard is about. We cannot wait to begin training with the newest member of our Trojan Family."
Â
In three seasons at Nebraska, Batenhorst played in 84 matches and saw action in 245 sets. She collected 535 kills (2.18 kps) for the Huskers and finished with 606 points (2.47 pps). Batenhorst also put up 120 blocks (0.45 bps), 184 digs (0.75 dps), and had five service aces and 12 assists for the Cornhuskers. As a dual-sport athlete, Batenhorst also played beach volleyball at Nebraska and went 15-5 in 2023 and was 9-11 in 2022 for a career record of 24-16 in two seasons. Her 15-win total in 2023 is the highest in a single season by a Husker player.
Â
Following Nebraska's 2022 NCAA tournament run, Batenhorst was named to the Louisville Regional's all-tournament team. She was a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District selection in 2022 and was also chosen for Academic All Big-Ten honors. Batenhorst also owns Academic All Big-Ten honors garnered twice in beach volleyball (2022-23) and was a Big Ten Distinguished Scholar with the beach Huskers (2022). She is a five-time member of the Nebraska Scholar-Athlete honor roll and is a two-time selection to the Tom Osborne Citizenship Team (2022-23).
Â
In 2023, the Women of Troy (19-13) received the eighth seed in the Pittsburgh quadrant of the NCAA tournament and swept UMBC in the first round before falling to site host No. 4 Pittsburgh in the second round. Under fourth-year head coach Brad Keller, the Trojans finished fifth in the Pac-12 (12-8) and were ranked 24th in the final AVCA/Taraflex Division I Coaches Poll. Outside hitter Skylar Fields received her third-career AVCA All-America award and she and setter Mia Tuaniga were each named to the Pac-12 all-conference team. Outside hitter London Wijay was chosen to the Pac-12 All-Freshman Team.
