USC’s Ava Stryker Named MPSF Women’s Water Polo Newcomer of the Week

The freshman tallied a hat trick for the Trojans in a road win at UC Irvine.

USC freshman attacker Ava Stryker has scored herself her first honors as a Trojans with her selection as the MPSF Women's Water Polo Newcomer of the Week. She is the first Trojan to earn weekly honors this season for the No. 5 USC squad.

Stryker was 3-for-5 shooting in USC's 10-7 win at No. 10 UC Irvine last weekend. She had her hat trick complete by the end of the period, and also add two assists and a steal for the Trojans to snap a two-game skid and improve USC to 5-2 overall.

Stryker and the Trojans head back down to Orange County this week for competition at the Barbara Kalbus Invitational, opening up on Friday (Feb. 23) at 4:15 p.m. against Indiana at Corona del Mar HS.
