No. 21 USC Women's Volleyball Hushes Huskies for Four-Set Win

LOS ANGELES – The No. 21-ranked USC women's volleyball team (16-6, 8-4 Big Ten) took down Washington (17-5, 7-5) in four sets (25-11, 25-18, 21-25, 25-15) at Galen Center on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 3. It was the Trojans' third straight win over the Huskies for their longest win streak in the all-time series since USC won three in a row in 2010-11.

- Sr. S Mia Tuaniga dished out 37 assists to set the Trojans to their sixth match over .300 hitting (.315) and dug up 11 balls to post her seventh double-double of the season (35th career). Tuaniga also notched 10.0 points with three kills (5att, .600), three blocks (one solo), and a season-high five service aces. It was her 19th-career match with three or more aces in the and her fifth time with five or more aces.
- Gr. OH Ally Batenhorst registered her seventh double-double of the season (ninth of her career) with 10 kills and 10 digs. She also had three blocks to finish with 11.5 points.
- Redshirt So. OH Adonia Faumuina totaled 11 kills (4e, 24att) and hit .292 with five blocks for a team-best 13.5 points.
- Fr. OPP Jadyn Livings finished with 12 points on 12 kills (5e, 22att) and .318 hitting to go with seven digs.
- Redshirt Fr. MB Leah Ford had 10 kills for her second double-digit match and hit .421 (2e) on 19 swings. Ford also led all players with six blocks and had a dig.
- Jr. LIB Gala Trubint and Gr. DS Grae Gosnell each had five digs apiece. Gosnell served two aces and Trubint had one.
- For the Huskies, Kiune Fletcher and Madi Endsley each had eight kills apiece. Endsley also had four of the Huskies' seven service aces. Molly Wilson had 15 assists and seven digs while Alexis Haury had 12 assists and two digs.
- The Trojans hit .315 for their sixth match over .300 this season and outpaced the Husky attack which finished at .061. USC also had more kills (50-33), assists (45-31), blocks (10.5-6.0), digs (44-39), and service aces (10-7) than Washington.
- USC opened the match as sharp as the tip of a church steeple and hit .348 with 11 kills (3e) on 23 swings in a 25-11 win. Tuaniga served three of the Trojans' four aces and dished out nine assists. USC had two blocks and held Washington to a negative .125 hitting percentage (5k, 8e, 24att). Ford and Livings led the Trojans with three kills apiece in the opening set.
- The Trojans would refer to set one as a blueprint for set two and went up, 2-0, with a 25-18 win behind six kills from Batenhorst and four blocks as a team. USC held the Huskies to a .000 hitting percentage with seven kills (7e) on 29 swings while hitting .500 on the other side of the net with 14 kills (2e) on 24 attempts.
- Washington turned the tables in set three to take a 25-21 win and sent the match to a fourth set. Endsley had five kills to pace the Husky offense, which hit .278 in the frame (15k, 5e, 36att) over USC's .171 (12k, 6e, 35att).
- Faumuina led the way in set four with five kills while Livings and Ford each added three to help USC to a 25-15 win on .345 hitting. Tyrah Ariail served a pair of aces and Tuaniga added two more to keep the service pressure on. Washington was held to just six kills (5e) on 25 swings and kept down at a .040 in the final set. Tuaniga had 10 assists and five of her digs in the fourth set.
- USC heads to the Midwest for a pair of league matches next weekend. The Trojans visit Champaign, Ill., to take on Illinois (15-7, 7-5 Big Ten) on Friday (Nov. 8) at Huff Hall in a 5 p.m. CT start (3 p.m. PT). USC then goes to Bloomington, Ind., to face Indiana (12-10, 5-7) on Sunday (Nov. 10) at Wilkinson Hall for a 4 p.m. ET matchup (1 p.m. PT). Both matches will be carried live on Big Ten Plus streams.
- USC improved to 46-33 all-time against Washington and to 26-12 as the home team. It was the Trojans' third straight win over the Huskies, which marked the team's longest win streak in the series since 2010-11. USC owns the longest win streak in the series with 12 in a row from Oct. 18, 1998, to Oct. 31, 2003.
- The Trojans reached double-digit blocks for the 14th time this season (10.5) and registered double-digit service aces for the second time (10 vs. UCLA, Oct. 13).
- USC moved to 10-3 at home this season and to 214-59 all-time at Galen Center.
- The Women of Troy played in front of a home crowd of more than 3,000 fans for the fourth time this fall.
