USC Swimming Wraps Fall Action at Texas Hall of Fame Invitational

Trojan Luke Maurer sets new school record in the 200y IM.
AUSTIN, TEXAS – USC men's and women's swimming wrapped up three-days of intense competition at the Texas Hall of Fame Invitational on Friday, Nov. 22.
USC's best finish of the meet was an individual victory from Trojan sophomore Minna Abraham, who captured the 200y freestyle in 1:42.39, the third fastest time in the country this season. Abraham already holds the fastest time in the country this season after posting a 1:42.01 at USC's dual meet against Arizona a few weeks back. Abraham was also third in the 100y freestyle, clocking a 47.74.
Another highlight of the meet came from Stanford graduate transfer Luke Maurer, who clocked a school record-worthy finish in the 200y IM, touching third in prelims in 1:42.57. Maurer was also fifth in the 200y freestyle, posting a 1:33.51 in finals after going 1:33.23 in prelims.
Trojan Oliver Sogaard-Andersen finished fifth in the 500y freestyle, posting a 4:15.96 which was more than a 15 second improvement from his previous season best (4:30.82). Andersen was also third in the 200y freestyle (1:32.66) and sixth in the 100y free (42.89) All three of his performances are at the top of the leader-board among Trojans this season.
USC fifth year Caroline Famous was fourth in the 100y back (51.47), fifth in the 50y freestyle (22.12) and ninth in the 100y butterfly (51.93).
Fellow USC fifth year Vasilissa Buinaia touched third in the 50y freestyle, clocking a 21.88. She was also seventh in the 100y freestyle in 48.40.
Sophomore Krzysztof Chmielewski touched third in the 1650y freestyle (14:53.61), sixth in the 500y freestyle (4:16.25), sixth in the 200y butterfly (1:42.88) and eighth in the 100y butterfly (47.24). Michal Chmielewski was third in the 200y butterfly (1:41.82), seventh in the 100y butterfly (46.98) and eighth in the 100y backstroke (48.16).
Though USC did not win any relays, both the men's and women's squads finished top 5 or better in seven total relays.
The Trojans now turn their attention to the spring for a series of dual meets beginning in January.
