USC’s JuJu Watkins Earns Spot On Big Ten Women’s Basketball Weekly Honor Roll

Her first weekly award from the conference comes after setting the USC record for quickest player to 1,000 career points.
LOS ANGELES — Fresh off setting the USC women's basketball program record for quickest player to 1,000 career points, sophomore guard JuJu Watkins has earned her first weekly award from the Big Ten Conference with her selection to the Big Ten Women's Basketball Weekly Honor Roll.
Here's a look at Watkins' accomplishments in theist week in USC victories over CSUN and Santa Clara at Galen Center:
- Tied for No. 2 in NCAA D1 history for fastest to 1,000 career points (38 games) in win over Santa Clara
- Broke USC record for fastest player to 1,000 points, set by Cheryl Miller at 48 games in 1983
- Averaged 21.5 points, 7.0 assists, 5.0 steals and 1.5 blocks per game in USC's two wins this week
- With nine assists vs. CSUN, Watkins set a new career high.
- Watkins' six steals vs. CSUN tied her career high.
- USC's 124 points scored vs. CSUN was the most points in a game in program history. (previous record: 121 vs. Southern Methodist on 3/1/86)
- The 85-point win over CSUN was USC's largest margin of victory in history. The previous record was 75 points vs. UC Santa Barbara on Feb. 27, 1981.
- With 22 points vs. Santa Clara, Watkins has scored in double digits in USC's last eight games, dating back to last season. She's now scored 20 or more points in 30 out of 38 career games.
