USC Men’s Volleyball Announces 2025 Schedule
October 31, 2024 | Men's Volleyball
The Trojans will play at home 13 times in the spring
LOS ANGELES – The USC men's volleyball team officially revealed its 2025 competition schedule on Thursday, Oct. 31, 10th-year head coach Jeff Nygaard announced.
"We are excited to announce our 2025 competition schedule," said Nygaard. "Our fans will have 14 opportunities to come see and support us at home and our team will take trips to Ohio for the Big Ten Challenge and to Hawai'i for the Outrigger Invitational. In conference, we will play BYU on the road and get Stanford and Grand Canyon for two home matches each. The MPSF is always so incredibly competitive and we feel the level of men's volleyball across the country continues to elevate year to year. The slate we've put together will be a great test for our squad."
The Trojans will open the spring campaign with four home matches and begin with Daemen (Jan. 9) in the Galen Center Pavilion. Princeton (Jan. 11), D'Youville (Jan. 17), and Emmanuel (Jan. 18) follow. The Trojans get their first road test at CSUN on Jan. 22 in the famed Matadome in Northridge, Calif.
USC then heads to the Buckeye State for three matches and will take on Central State (Jan. 29) in Wilberforce before meeting Ohio State (Jan. 31) and Penn State (Feb. 1) in the Big Ten Challenge at the Buckeyes' Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio. Following the Midwest trek, the Trojans return home to host Dominican (Feb. 8). USC takes on UC Irvine once on the road (Feb. 12) and then at home (Feb. 14) before the start of conference play.
The Trojans will meet MPSF (Mountain Pacific Sports Federation) newcomer Vanguard in a home-and-home to open league play. USC heads to Costa Mesa for the first (Feb. 26) and then will host the Lions at Galen Center on Feb. 28. The following week, the Trojans head to Provo, Utah, for their first MPSF road matches. There, they'll take on BYU twice at Smith Fieldhouse (Mar. 7-8).
USC pauses conference play for a short trip to the islands where the Trojans will take on Penn State (Mar. 13), Ball State (Mar. 14), and tournament host Hawai'i (Mar. 15) in the Outrigger Invitational in Honolulu.
The Trojans conclude the regular season in Southern California and begin with two home matches against defending MPSF champion Grand Canyon (Mar. 28-29). USC then faces Pepperdine (April 3, 5) and Stanford (April 11-12), and then closes the regular season with matches against crosstown rival and two-time defending NCAA champion UCLA first at Pauley Pavilion (April 17) and then at Galen Center (April 19).
The 2025 MPSF Tournament will be hosted by Pepperdine at the Firestone Fieldhouse in Malibu, Calif. (April 23-26).
In fall competition, USC hosts its annual fall tournament in the Galen Center Pavilion on Saturday (Nov. 2) and then will host the MPSF vs. Big West fall tournament on Nov. 9. The Trojans conclude fall play at the UCLA Fall Tournament (Nov. 22-23).
Last year, the Trojans went 13-15 in the regular season, finished sixth in the MPSF standings (3-9), and were 13th in the final AVCA Coaches Poll. In the postseason, USC advanced to the MPSF tournament semifinal where it fell to league runner-up UCLA. The Trojans earned six wins over ranked opponents and head coach Jeff Nygaard reached 100-career victories.
