September 28, 2023 | Women's Lacrosse
SPARKS, Md. -Â Former USC student-athletes Amanda Johansen (USC '16) and Erin Bakes (USC '21) were named to the 12-player roster that will represent the United States during the 2023 World Lacrosse Women's Super Sixes event taking place Oct. 6-8 in Oshawa, Ontario.Â
Â
The Super Sixes event is slated to include six teams — Canada, Haiti, Haudenosaunee, India, Kenya and the United States. The U.S. is scheduled to play India on Oct. 6, the Haudenosaunee and Canada on Oct. 7, and championship play for final placements will be held on Oct. 8.Â
Â
Johansen earned her spot on the squad as a U.S. training team veteran and Athletes Unlimited player. Bakes makes her way on the team after recently being named to the 2024 U.S. box training team.Â
Â
Johansen was a four-year starter at USC, where she tallied 194 points (134 goals/60 assists), 103 ground balls and 258 draw controls, and earned IWLCAAll-American status in 2016. Johansen later became an assistant coach for the Women of Troy before setting her sights on turning pro. Bakes completed her three-year career at USC with 43 points (31 goals/12 assists), 16 ground balls and 13 draw controls.Â
