USC Men's Basketball To Face Gonzaga At Legends Of Basketball Las Vegas Invitational On Dec. 2

Trojans and Bulldogs to meet for the first time since the 2021 Elite Eight game
LOS ANGELES-- The USC men's basketball team will face defending West Coast Conference co-champion Gonzaga in a battle of preseason top 25 teams at the Legends of Basketball Las Vegas Invitational at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nev. on Dec. 2. The game will tip-off at 7 p.m. and will air on ESPN.
Perennial national power Gonzaga went 31-6 in the 2022-23 season and reached the Elite Eight before falling to eventual NCAA Champions UConn. Gonzaga has reached at least the Sweet 16 In the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament for the last eight years it has been played, including reaching the NCAA championship game twice. The Trojans are 2-1 all-time against Gonzaga, winning in the 1992 and 1993 seasons, before falling in an 2021 NCAA Elite game to the Bulldogs.
The Trojans enjoyed a Summer Foreign Tour to Greece and Croatia (Aug. 5-15) where they completed a 3-0 trip. The team showed great depth and a dynamic offense, led by Boogie Ellis' 22.3 points per game average. USC went 22-11 during the 2022-23 season, including a 14-6 record in Pac-12 play which tied for second in the conference. USC also advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the third consecutive season. It was the Trojans' fourth consecutive 20-win season, a school record for back-to-back 20-win seasons. The Trojans return leading scorer and All-Pac-12 guard Ellis and have added the No. 4 ranked recruiting class in the country, which includes the consensus No. 1 overall player, guard Isaiah Collier.
The National Basketball Retired Players Association (NBRPA) is the title sponsor of the event. Founded in 1992, The NBRPA serves former professional basketball players in their transition into life after basketball and is the only alumni association of its kind supported directly by the NBA and National Basketball Players Association. Â
USC's game against Gonzaga will be part of a doubleheader, with Washington facing Colorado State in the opener of the Legends of Basketball Las Vegas Invitational at 4 p.m.
