June 19, 2023 | Women's Volleyball
She departs USC to become Orlando Pro Volleyball's first head coach, and will also serve as Vice President of Operations.
LOS ANGELES – USC women's volleyball associate head coach Amy Pauly has been named the first head coach of the Orlando Pro Volleyball Federation, the organization announced today (June 19). She will also serve as Orlando's Vice President of Operations.Â
Pauly had served on the USC coaching staff since 2020, when she joined the Trojans as an assistant coach. USC's lead recruiting coordinator, Pauly moved into the associate head position in spring 2023.
"Working to build the USC program with Amy during the COVID era, arguably one of the most difficult times in history, has been a true honor," USC women's volleyball head coach Brad Keller said of Pauly. "Watching Amy develop into one of the most electric and charismatic leaders during this journey has been nothing short of inspirational. She has been the very rock that this program, and I personally, have needed. Though Amy will be missed dearly, I am very excited for her next chapter. There is no one more deserving and I can't wait to witness what she brings to Orlando and Pro Volleyball Federation. Congrats, Amy, and Fight On!"
Â
Pauly had come to USC following two seasons (2018-19) as the head coach at UAB (Alabama-Birmingham), where her squads produced a 25-30 overall record and she was named to VolleyballMag.com's 2020 Under 40 Coaching Hotshots list. Prior to UAB, Pauly spent six seasons (2012-17) as the associate head coach at Villanova where she helped the Wildcats to 97 victories, an NCAA tournament appearance in 2015, and was named to the 2016 AVCA (American Volleyball Coaches Association) 30 Under 30 list.
Â
"I cannot thank Brad enough for bringing me into the USC family and giving me an opportunity to be at such a prestigious university and a historic program," Pauly said. "Under Brad's leadership, I was able to expand my knowledge of international volleyball systems and high-level training. He has been an incredible mentor and one of the main reasons I am confident in taking over a professional team. I am so excited for the future of USC volleyball. We have created a culture that the alumni should be proud of, and we are bringing in the best talent from all over the country. The future is very bright. I have fallen in love with this university and I will be a forever fan of the Trojans. I cannot wait to follow them in their journey."
Â
Pauly got her start in collegiate coaching in 2010 as a graduate assistant at South Carolina where she was responsible for coordinating practice schedules, travel arrangements, and served as the director for the Gamecocks' summer camps.
As a student-athlete, Pauly lettered four years at Alabama (2005-08) as a libero and helped the Crimson Tide earn three consecutive berths into the NCAA tournament. She set Alabama career (1,724), season (616), and single-match (39) records for digs. Her single-season average of 5.31 digs per set in 2007 is the highest in program history and her career total was ranked fourth all-time in the SEC (Southeastern Conference) record books when she concluded her playing career. She was a six-time SEC Player of the Week selection and was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll three times.
Â
Pauly's experience coaching club teams includes a stint as the head coach for South Carolina Midlands where she guided the team to a third-place finish at the Palmetto Regional championship. She has also served as head coach of East Coast Power Volleyball Club in Philadelphia and was an assistant coach at 1st Alliance Volleyball Club in Chicago.
Pro Volleyball Federation will begin play in February 2024 with world class players and coaches, including some of America's greatest volleyball players and elite players from around the world. Pro Volleyball Federation is REAL pro volleyball and the premier women's professional volleyball league in North America.Â
"Real Pro was an opportunity that I couldn't pass up because it will be changing the landscape of volleyball in the U.S.," Pauly said. "Our athletes will be able to finally stay home after their collegiate careers, while athletes abroad will have the chance to seize an opportunity to play in the U.S. and experience the incredible fan base that volleyball has."
