USC Lacrosse's Emma Wightman Earns IWLCA All-American Status

Wightman becomes the Women of Troy’s seventh All-American as the program holds ten IWLCA All-American certificates
NORTHBOROUGH, Mass. – USC lacrosse graduate transfer defense Emma Wightman (Basking Ridge, N.J./University of Florida) was selected to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association All-America third team as announced by the IWLCA on Thursday, May 25.
Wightman becomes the seventh Trojan to earn IWLCA All-American honors and collects the program's tenth all-time accolade. She joins three-time All-American Michaela Michael (2015-17), two-time choice Kerrigan Miller (2018-19), Amanda Johansen (2016), Courtney Tarleton (2016), Lydia Sutton (2017) and Kelsey Huff (2022). The Trojans have earned first-team notice three times, second-team honors once, and now third-team selections six times.
Her trophy cabinet continues to expand for her career, as Wightman was named to the Inside Lacrosse All-American honorable mention list. As a Trojan, she was tabbed as an IWLCA All-West/Midwest Region player, an All-Pac-12 choice, and earned the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Year award in 2023. Before appearing as a USC student-athlete, she earned ILWomen All-American honorable mention, All-AAC First Team and AAC Defender of the Year status at Florida in 2022. Wightman ranked second on the team and in the Pac-12 for caused turnovers (41) and was tied for second in the Pac-12 for groundballs with 35. She completed her collegiate career with 114 career-caused turnovers and 129 groundballs.
The IWLCA named the 48 student-athletes - including Wightman - who were selected for one of the 2023 Division I All-American teams. This group of IWLCA All-Americans represents 18 different institutions and are the best athletes in Division I for the spring season.
In 2023, the Women of Troy (16-4, 9-1 Pac-12) topped the Pac-12 conference, claiming the regular season title for the third time in program history. USC earned a trip to the NCAA tournament for the sixth time after winning its second Pac-12 tournament title. 11th-year head coach Lindsey Munday (139-58, .706) earned Pac-12 coach of the year after leading the Trojans to a near-perfect conference season.
