LAKE NONA, Fla. — USC freshman Maddy Sieg served up a straight-set victory in today's NCAA Singles Round of 32 to take another strong step forward in her first venture into NCAA individual action. She and fellow Trojan Eryn Cayetano were equally as fortunate in their first trip into NCAA Doubles draw, as the duo won their opening round match to advance to the Round of 16.
Freshman phenom Sieg reaffirmed her status as an All-American during the round of 32, defeating North Carolina's Carson Tangulig 6-2, 6-0 to advance to tomorrow's Round of 16. Wednesday, Sieg will face Georgia's No. 4 seeded Dasha Vidmanova at 12 p.m. ET/9 a.m. PT.
After a three-hour weather delay, Trojans Sieg and Eryn Cayetano finally took to the courts to compete in the opening round of NCAA doubles action. The USC duo would eventually take down Texas A&M's Kupers/Stoina 6-2, 7-6(3) to advance to the NCAA Doubles Round of 16. Tomorrow, the pair will face Wake Forest's Brylin/Killingsworth at 3:30 p.m. ET/12:30 p.m. PT.
