USC's Audrey Nourse, Nicole Nourse, Claudia Shevitz, Emma Wightman and Bayley Weber earn spots on the College Sports Communicators academic honor roll
LOS ANGELES - Five Women of Troy from three different teams earned selections to the College Sports Communicators At-Large Academic All-District Team on Tuesday, May 23. USC's latest CSC Academic All-District honorees — Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse of beach volleyball; Claudia Shevitz and Emma Wightman of lacrosse; and Bayley Weber of women's water polo — were each instrumental in the success of their teams' recently completed seasons.Â
Fresh off winning the third of back-to-back-to-back NCAA Championships with beach volleyball, seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse each graduated with bachelor's degrees in business administration with grade-point averages of 3.91 and 3.95 respectively. Nicole also earned All-District academic and third-team Academic All-America honors in 2021
Lacrosse standouts Claudia Shevitz (3.93 GPA, public relations) and Emma Wightman (4.0 graduate GPA, master's of stem cell and regenerative medicine) recently gathered Pac-12 All-Conference honors and helped USC capture the 2023 Pac-12 Championship. The two Trojans helped USC lacrosse earn a bid to the NCAA Tournament. This is the first-career Academic All-District honor for both Shevitz and Wightman.
Super senior Bayley Weber, who was the MPSF Player of the Year after helping USC reach the NCAA Championship game, holds a 3.56 GPA in her master's of social work program. This is Weber's first Academic All-District accolade.
The CSC At-Large Academic All-District Team is composed of qualified nominated student-athletes with cumulative grade-point averages of at least 3.50 from the following programs: beach volleyball, women's bowling, women's rowing, fencing, women's field hockey, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, men's volleyball, water polo and wrestling. Nominations are limited to five men and five women from each institution.Â
As members of the CSC Academic All-District Team, all five student-athletes are in contention for At-Large Academic All-America status, as determined by CSC member voting. The Women's At-Large Academic All-American squads will be announced June 22.Â
