USC’s Maddy Sieg Advances to Round of 32 at NCAA Singles Championships

LAKE NONA, Fla. – No. 11 Maddy Sieg of the USC women's tennis team made her NCAA singles debut on Monday afternoon at the United States Tennis Association (USTA) National Campus, winning her first match to advance to the Round of 32 at the NCAA Singles Championship.
Playing in the NCAA Singles Championships for the first time in her career, Sieg defeated Tennessee's Rebeka Mertena 6-4, 6-1 during the opening round.
Sieg will face North Carolina's No. 28 Carson Tangulig in the second round. She will also team up with Eryn Cayetano in doubles, taking on the No. 3 seeded duo of Diana Shnaider/Alana Smith (NC State) tomorrow at a time to be announced.
Senior Cayetano fell 0-6, 7-5, 3-6 to No. 10 Daria Frayman of Princeton, ending her run in the NCAA Singles Championships.
