The USC men's basketball program has received a signed National Letter of Intent (NLI) to its 2023 recruiting class from guard Bronny James, the No. 11 ranked player in the nation according to On3.com, USC men's basketball head coach Andy Enfield announced today (May 10). USC has already signed guard Isaiah Collier, the No. 1 ranked player in the class and forward Arrinten Page, the No. 38 player in the class, according to ESPN.com. USC's class is now ranked No. 4 nationally by On3.com.
James is a 6-3 combo guard who averaged 13.8 points, 5.5 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.8 steals during his senior season at Sierra Canyon School in Chatsworth, Calif. Sierra Canyon won the Mission League title in three of his four years on the team, and James received two of the highest honors for high school boys basketball players when he was named a 2023 McDonald's All American and selected to play on Team USA for the 2023 Nike Hoop Summit. He is also ranked No. 19 overall by ESPN.com.
In the McDonald's All American Game, James went 5-for-8 from 3-point range, finishing with 15 points and adding 4 assists. A week later at the Nike Hoop Summit, he finished with 11 points and 4 rebounds in the 90-84 Team USA win over Team World. Both events were packed with over 100 NBA scouts and executives getting early looks at future NBA Draft picks.
James is the eldest son of the Lakers' LeBron James.
It is the ninth consecutive USC recruiting class ranked inside the top 30 and its sixth class ranked inside the top 20 since Enfield took over the USC program in 2013. The 2022 USC men's basketball recruiting class was ranked No. 7 overall. James is the fifth five-star recruit to commit to USC since 2019, following Isaiah Mobley, Onyeka Okongwu, Evan Mobley and Isaiah Collier. He is also the sixth McDonald's All American to come to USC following Enfield's arrival: Chuck O'Bannon (2017), Isaiah Mobley (2019), Evan Mobley (2020), Kijani Wright (2022), Isaiah Collier (2023) and Bronny James (2023).
In addition to James, USC has signed the No. 1 recruit in the entire 2023 class: guard Isaiah Collier (Wheeler High School, Marietta, Ga.). Collier was the MVP of the 2022 Steph Curry Camp, an event featuring 26 of the nation's top recruits. He was also named MVP of the 2022 Under Armour Elite 24 Camp. During the spring, Collier averaged 17.6 points, 5.1 rebounds and 6.5 assists on the Nike EYBL circuit for The Skill Factory grassroots program, shooting 57.1 percent from inside the arc and 44.8 percent from three-point range. Collier was a 2023 McDonald's All American and led the West with 25 points. He was named co-MVP of the game held in Houston, Texas. As a junior, he averaged 18 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists.
Forward Arrinten Page is a 6-10, 225-pound senior forward at Wheeler High in Marietta, Ga., where he is teammates with Collier. The versatile forward Page is ranked as the No. 5 player in Georgia and as the No. 4 ranked power forward overall ESPN.com. He also is ranked No. 38 overall by ESPN.com.
