USC Lacrosse's Kait Devir Claims Record Tying Weekly Award

The junior goalie picked up the Trojans' record-tying tenth weekly award by providing support between the pipes in the Pac-12 regular season title clincher against Arizona State
SAN FRANCISCO – USC lacrosse junior goalkeeper Kait Devir (Ridgewood, N.J.) was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Apr. 24-30; the league announced on Monday, May 1. Stanford's redshirt sophomore attacker, Ashley Humphrey, was chosen for the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award.
Devir put on a clinic against the Sun Devils in the regular season finale for the Trojans. The junior limited ASU to six goals and posted eight saves as USC clinched the regular season title in the 11-6 victory. Devir further decreased her goals against average from 7.9 to 7.77, as she continues to rank 4th in the NCAA for the stat. Devir shut out Arizona State in the first quarter and allowed just two goals in the second half, as she faced a Sun Devil squad that was fresh off a 16-goal affair.
The award is Devir's first this season and third for her career, as she claimed two last year in back-to-back weeks (Feb. 16, 2022; Feb. 22, 2022). The Trojans' mark of ten Pac-12 weekly honors ties Arizona State's (10, 2021) previously set record for the most weekly awards in a single season. USC now owns eight of the 12 defensive honors, expanding its record for most DPOW awards in a single season.
The Pac-12 is in its sixth season of women's lacrosse. The Women of Troy have earned weekly conference honors 35 times (25 defensive and ten offensive) to rank first among league schools. Colorado sits second with 29 awards. Stanford currently has 27, and Arizona State follows that with 23. Oregon (5) and California (2) round out the group.
USC (14-3, 9-1) begins the postseason portion of its schedule, as it goes into the Pac-12 tournament as the No. 1 seed and will face the winner of ASU and California in the semifinals at 4:30 p.m. on May 4 in Berkeley, Calif. at the California Memorial Stadium.
