No. 16 USC Rowing Advances All Boats to Grand Final of the San Diego Crew Classic

SAN DIEGO – The No.16th ranked USC Women's Rowing places third in all races and advances all boats to the grand final of the 50th annual San Diego Crew Classic in Mission Bay, San Diego on Saturday, April 1. This is the first day of a two-day regatta at the crew classic, as the Trojans will return to the bay for the final day of rowing Sunday, April 2.

"Speed doesn't happen overnight, but with each stroke we take today, we can gain a little bit more of it for tomorrow. Even though we were battling sickness, the plan is to keep our eyes what we can control and our hearts in the boat as we look forward to what this season will bring."

- Sr. Eden Cooper-Squires coxed for the Trojan's Varsity Eight. Zoe McCutcheon sat the stroke seat for the Trojans. Succeeding the stroke seat was Celia Marino, Grete Alttoa, Annabel Aron, Jenna Van de Grift, Sara Clarin, Clare Widzgowski, and Sonja Washburn.
- Sr. Lillian Lau coxed for the Second Varsity Eight. In the stroke seat was Chiara Meakin. Following Meakin was Ingrid Brast, Caroline Munch, Claudia Cabula, Anastasiia Slivina, Anna Molnar, Julia Karten, and in the bow was Isabella Lysaker.
- Fr. Dana Shearer sat in the coxswain seat for the Varsity Four. The Trojans stroke seat was occupied by Grace Eamer. Then was Zuzanka Pazourkova, Raquel Rodriguez, and in the bow was Alex DeLisle.
- Fr. Dana Shearer coxed for the Second Varsity Four. In the stroke seat was Sarah Panek. Following Panek was Monica Kwan, Sam Boucher, and in the bow was Franchesca Moore.
- Fr. Sage Saperstein sat in the coxswain seat for the Third Varsity Eight. The Trojans stroke seat was occupied by Lindsay Neithammer. Then was Bella Korellis, Gretchen Angelich, Jemima Morgan, Rhese Abrams, Jane Cox, Evita Frankevica, and in the bow was Caitlin McTygue.
- The Varsity Eight was first on the water for the Trojans. Coxswain Eden Cooper-Squires led the Women of Troy to third place with a time of 6:50.383. The Trojan boat was nine seconds behind California's boat with California's time being 6:41.284. USC competed in heat two of this category. First place of heat one was taken by Texas with a time of 6:31.660. The Women of Troy advance to the grand final tomorrow (April 2).
- The Varsity Four was the second race for the Trojans. Coxswain Dana Shearer guided the Trojans to third place with a time of 07:56.387. The Women of Troy were behind California by twelve seconds, with California's time of 07:44.095. The Trojans will advance to the grand final tomorrow (April 2).
- The Second Varsity Eight was the third race for the Trojans. Coxswain Lillian Lau guided the Trojans to a third place finish with a time of 07:13.124. The Women of Troy were behind California by twenty-two seconds, with California's time 06:51.886. USC advances to the grand final tomorrow (April 2).
- The Second Varsity Four was the fourth race for USC. As freshman coxswain Dana Sheared coxed her second boat of the day, the Women of Troy crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 8:35.182. The Trojan boat was thirteen seconds behind San Diego's boat with a time of 8:22.699.
- The Third Varsity Eight was the last race of the day for the Women of Troy. Freshman coxswain Sage Saperstein led the Trojans to a third-place finish with a time of 7:19.479. USC was twenty-one seconds behind the second-place boat, San Diego, who had a time of 6:58.797. The Women of Troy will advance to the grand final tomorrow (April 1).

The Varsity Eight will race at 10:00 a.m. The Varsity Four will compete at 10:28 a.m. The Second Varsity Eight will race at 10:35 a.m. The Third Varsity Eight will hit the water at 11:59. The Second Varsity Four will finish off the day at 1:12 p.m.
