USC Set to Host Southern California College Baseball Classic

THIS WEEK: The USC baseball team co-hosts the Southern California College Baseball Classic with UCLA this week, hosting Sacramento State on Friday and then Tulane on Saturday. The Trojans then head to No. 17 UCLA on Sunday afternoon.

LAST WEEK: The Trojans had their series against Auburn moved from Los Angeles to Auburn, Ala. due to the inclement weather in Southern California last weekend. The Trojans had a rough first road trip, dropping the first two games in the series before playing to a 12-12 tie in the finale.

SERIES VS. SAC ST: This will be the first meeting between USC and Sacramento State.

SERIES VS. TULANE: USC owns a 6-5 lead in the all-time series, with the teams last playing in 2009.

SERIES VS. UCLA: USC owns 266-149 lead in the all-time series against the Bruins. USC took two-of-three from UCLA on the road last season. The two teams will play at Dedeaux Field later this season (April 21-23) for their conference series.

PLAYER NOTES:

Nick Lopez's 24 total bases are tops among Pac-12 players and 48th in the NCAA. He also leads the Trojans with 9 RBI and is tied for the team lead in hits (12), home runs (3) and doubles (3).
Cole Gabrielson posted the first two-homer game of the season for USC on Sunday against Marist. He is tied for the team lead with 3 homers. Gabrielson's .905 slugging percentage is second in the Pac-12 and 64th in the NCAA.
Austin Overn is one of six players who currently lead the country with 3 triples. Overn was also a walk-on wide receiver for the USC football team this fall, but did not appear in a game.
