USC Lacrosse's Catherine Lord Selected For Second Straight Pac-12 Weekly Award

Sophomore Catherine Lord grabs her second Pac-12 lacrosse weekly award and becomes the third USC player to win the defensive honor back-to-back.
SAN FRANCISCO – USC lacrosse sophomore midfielder Catherine Lord (Denver, Colo.) was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 20-26; the league announced on Tuesday, Feb. 28. Oregon sophomore attacker Haley Tayor was chosen for the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week award.
Lord continues to improve on her 2023 campaign, as she racked up nine draw controls, grabbed three groundballs and posted one caused turnover in the 16-7 victory over San Diego State. This is Lords second consecutive game with nine draw controls and three groundballs.
The award is Lord's second, as she claimed last week's Pac-12 DPOW trophy in the win over Ohio State. Lord is the 7th player in Pac-12 history to win the award in back-to-back weeks and the third USC player to accomplish the feat. Most recently, junior goalie Kait Devir was selected twice last year for the weeks of Feb. 16 and Feb. 22. Lord is the first midfielder in Pac-12 history to win the honor in back-to-back weeks and only the second player to accomplish this from a non-goalie position.
The Pac-12 is in its sixth season of women's lacrosse. Women of Troy have earned weekly conference honors 28 times (19 defensives and nine offensive) to rank first among league schools. Colorado sits second with 26 awards. Arizona State follows with 22 and then Stanford with 21. Oregon (5) and California (2) round out the group.
The Trojans (2-1) begin their second homestand after a nine-goal win over San Diego State as they welcome High Point (Mar. 3) and Villanova (Mar. 5) to McAlister Field. USC will take on High Point at 3 p.m. on Friday, and Villanova joins the Women of Troy at home at 1 p.m. on Sunday.
