USC's Rayah Marshall Selected As Semifinalist For Naismith Women’s Defensive Player of the Year

USC sophomore is one of 10 finalists for the prestigious award.
The nation's No. 3 shot blocker this season, sophomore forward Rayah Marshall has been a defensive force to reckon with since setting foot at USC. Her efforts have not gone unnoticed, as Marshall has been named a semifinalist for the prestigious Naismith Women's Defensive Player of the Year.
Marshall's 89 blocks so far this season are the third most in by a Trojan program history, trailing only the great Lisa Leslie's junior and senior season tallies. Her 3.42 blocks per game this season has her a No. 3 in the nation, while she's also top-10 on the boards — ranked No. 7 in the land with her 8.4 defensive rebounds per game to date.

Marshall and her fellow Trojans are on their way to Las Vegas this week as the No. 6 seed in the Pac-12 Tournament, opening up Wednesday (March 1) against Oregon State in the first round.
