USC’s Tilly Kearns Earns MPSF Women’s Water Polo Player of the Week Pick

USC's two-meter power Tilly Kearns has secured her first MPSF Player of the Week honor of the season after a solid performance in a dominant home-opening win for the Trojans.

In No. 2 USC's home opener, Kearns scored three goals, had one assist, two steals and two drawn exclusions to help anchor a powerful 16-5 win over No. 6 UC Irvine. Kearns' first goal of the day pulled USC even after trailing 1-0 early in the game. Kearns' defensive efforts helped the Trojans keep UC Irvine scoreless for the last 17 minutes of the game as USC shut out the Anteaters in the second half. With her hat trick, Kearns has now scored at least two goals in six games during USC's undefeated 9-0 start to the season.

Kearns is the second Trojan to be honored as MPSF Player of the Week this season, following Bayley Weber's selection two weeks ago. This is the third career honor for Kearns, who won it twice last season.

Kearns and the Trojans are off to the Barbara Kalbus Invitational this week, running Feb. 24-26 at UC Irvine's Anteater Aquatics Complex.
