Five Weeks, Five Pac-12 Women’s Basketball Freshman of the Week Awards For USC's JuJu Watkins
December 11, 2023 | Women's Basketball
The nation’s No. 2 scorer keeps up her pace and scores another weekly award from the conference.
We're five weeks into JuJu Watkins' first season at USC, and the newcomer's all-around consistency has kept her as a lock on the Pac-12's weekly awards list. Her fifth straight Pac-12 Freshman of the Week selection comes after the nation's No. 2 scorer dropped 27 points and served up five assists and five steals in another 80-point outing from the Trojans as they topped visiting UC Riverside 85-53 on Sunday at Galen Center.
Watkins led undefeated USC in scoring for the eighth straight game as the Trojans improved to 8-0 with Sunday's win over the Highlanders. She also matched her own career highs with two blocks and five assists, and shot a season-best 75 percent from 3-point range in going 4-of-6 from beyond the arc.
The Trojans have two more games on tap before conference play begins at the end of the moth. USC hosts Cal State Fullerton at 7 p.m. on Monday (Dec. 18) at Galen Center before heading down to take on Long Beach State at 2 p.m. on Thursday (Dec. 21) at Walter Pyramid.

Watkins already has set the Pac-12 record for consecutive Freshman of the Week honors, and she is closing the gap on the record of eight total such selections by a Pac-12 player in a season.Like @CoachLindsayG says, it must be Monday 😂✌️ pic.twitter.com/cPaJgj6eQi
