LOS ANGELES – USC diving, led by 25th year head coach Hongping Li, will host the eight-team Trojan Diving Invitational, Friday through Sunday (Nov. 17-19), at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
Divers from USC, UCLA, UNLV, Stanford, Arizona, Pepperdine and Cal Baptist will compete on all three specialties. Results will be available at divemeets.com.
Action Friday begins with men's 3-meter and women's 1-meter prelims at 11 a.m. with finals starting at 12:45. Saturday features men's platform and women's 3-meter with 11 a.m. prelims and 12:20 p.m. finals. Saturday will also feature the second annual team event from 2:10-2:40 p.m. Sunday's men's 1-meter and women's platform begins at 11 a.m., with finals at 12:20 p.m.
Nearly all of USC's diving squad will be in action this weekend at Uytengsu, with a handful set to make their Trojan debuts.
Most recently, Laurent Gosselin-Paradis and Shangfei Wang combined to sweep the springboard events against Arizona and Arizona State.
During the spring, the Trojan men's diving program swept the Pac-12 postseason awards as head diving coach Hongping Li was named Men's Diving Coach of the Year, junior Shangfei Wang was named Men's Diver of the Year and sophomore Laurent Gosselin-Paradiswas Men's Freshman Diver of the Year.
Last season, Paradis won the 1-meter and platform events at the conference championships, while George Korovin won the 3-meter event. Nike Agunbiade also captured the Pac-12 platform competition on the women's side. At the conference championships, the small but mighty squad captured the team Pac-12 Diving title.
