USC Rowing Finishes First in Four Races at San Diego Fall Classic

SAN DIEGO – The USC women's rowing team finished first place in four of five categories competed in at the San Diego Fall Classic in Mission Bay, Calif. on Sunday, Nov. 12. The Women of Troy placed first in the Women's Open 8+, Women's Open Frosh/Nov, Women's Open 2-, and the Women's Open 4+ categories. The San Diego Fall Classic concludes fall racing for the Trojans.

TROJAN BOATS
- So. Dana Shearer coxed for the Trojan's Women's Open 8+ A. Grete Alttoa sat the stroke seat for the Women of Troy. Zoe McCutcheon, Chiara Meakin, Amy Clare Naughton, Celia Marino, Raquel Rodriguez, Caroline Munch, and Ingrid Brast followed in the bow seat.
- Fr. Ellen Ariathurai coxed for the Women's Open 8+ B. In the stroke seat, was Grace Eamer. Following Eamer was Michaela Banta, Julia Karten, Anna Molnar, Annabel Aron, Chloe Amling, Regan Mary Cronin, and in the bow was Isabella Lysaker. Â
- So. Sage Saperstein coxed for the Trojan's Women's Open 8+ C. Evita Franckevica sat the stroke seat for the Women of Troy. Alex DeLisle, Clare Widzgowski, Sara Clarin, Rhese Abrams, Bella Korellis, Anastasiia Slivina, and Chloe Saulnier followed in the bow seat.
- Fr. Ellen Ariathuria coxed for the Women's Frosh/Nov 8+ A. Kiki George sat in the stroke seat. Martina Scarpello, Sasha Henry, Abbie Diemer, Lauren Donnelly, Julia Kennedy, Maeve Clifford, and Belle Bordier followed.
- Jr. Alex DeLisle and Fr. Belle Bordier both rowed in a single competing in the Women's Open 1x category. DeLisle rowed the A boat and Bordier rowed the B boat.
- Gr. Celia Marino and Jr. Annabel Aron rowed in a pair competing in the Women's Open 2- category as the A boat.
- Jr. Chiara Meakin and Sr. Zoe McCutcheon competed in the Women's Open 2- as USC's B boat.
- Gr. Clare Widzgowski and Fr. Michael Banta competed in the Women's Open 2- as USC's C boat.
- So. Grace Eamer and Fr. Chloe Amling raced in the Women's Open 2- as the Trojan's D boat.
- So. Bella Korellis and So.Franchesca Moore raced in the Women of Troy's E boat in the Women's Open 2-.
- So. Julia Karten and Gr. Sara Clarin competed in USC's F boat in the Women's Open 2-.
- So. Dana Shearer coxed for the Trojan's Women's 4+ A boat. Grete Alttoa sat in the stroke seat for the Trojans. Raquel Rodriguez, Anastasiia Slivina, and Ingrid Brast followed.
- So. Sage Saperstein coxed for the Women's Open 4+ B. In the stroke seat was Evita Franckevica. Following Franckevica was Amy Clare Naughton, Kiki George, and Isabella Lysaker.
- Fr. Ellen Ariathurai coxed for the Women's Open 4+ C. In the stroke seat was Caroline Munch. Following Munch was Anna Molnar, Regan Mary Cronin and Rhese Abrams.
- Fr. Sophie Wojcik coxed for the Women's Open 4+ D. Sasha Henry was in the stroke seat. Tala Ransweiler, Abbie Diemer, and Gretchen Angelich followed.
WHAT HAPPENED
- The Women's Open 8+ kicked off racing for the Trojans. The USC A boat took first place with a time of 15:19.134. The Women of Troy's B boat took second place with a time of 15:57.050. Then to finish this category, the Trojan's C boat placed sixth with a time of 16:03.918.
- The Women's Open 1x was next on the water for the Trojans. Alex DeLisle, who rowed in UCS's A single, placed fifth with a time of 22:02.390. Belle Bordier finished behind DeLisle in sixth place with a time of 23:06.286.
- Next up was the Women's Open Frosh/Nov 8+. Led by Ellen Ariathuria, the Trojans finished in first place with a time of 17:13.032.
- The largest category for the Trojans was the Women's Open 2- category with six USC boats racing. The USC B boat finished in first with a time of 19:24.219. In second place, was USC's A boat with a finishing time of 19:33.166. USC's C boat finished in fourth place with a time of 19:44.351. USC's F boat finished in sixth place with a time of 20:11.369. USC's D boat finished in 11th place with a time of 20:54.444. Finally, USC's E boat finished in 12th place with a time of 21:38.508.
- The Women's Open 4+ concluded racing for the Trojans on Sunday (Nov. 12). USC's A boat, led by Fr. Dana Shearer, finished in first place with a time of 17:16.217. USC's C boat came in second place with a time of 17:58.527. USC's B boat finished in fifth place with a time of 18:27.844. Then finally, USC's D boat finished in eighth place with a time of 19:05.399
