USC's Boogie Ellis Named Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player Of The Week

Scores career-high 31 points in win over rival UCLA on Jan. 26
USC senior guard Boogie Ellis was named the Pac-12 Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of Jan. 23-29, it was announced by the Conference office today (Jan. 30). It is Ellis' first career Pac-12 Player of the Week honor and the first by a Trojan this season.
Ellis scored a career-high 31 points to lead USC to a 77-64 comeback win over then-No. 8 UCLA on Jan. 26. Ellis helped USC rally from a 12-point halftime deficit, by scoring 27 of his points after the break, which matched UCLA's team total in the second half. Ellis was 10-for-10 from the free throw line and added 6 assists without a turnover. The 31 points in a game were the most by a Trojan since Onyeka Okongwu scored 33 on Nov. 19, 2019 vs. Pepperdine and were the most against UCLA by a USC player since Sam Clancy also scored 31 on Jan. 11, 2001. It was also USC's first win over a top 10 team since Jan. 25, 2017. Ellis tallied 27 in the second-half comeback by making 7 of 10 FGs, 3 of 4 three-point FGs and 10 of 10 from the charity stripe.
Ellis has now scored in double figures 11 consecutive games. He leads USC with a 16.3 points per game average which ranks fifth in the conference, has made a team-leading 45 three-pointers and a team-high 65 free throws. The San Diego, Calif. native also ranks second on the team with 35 steals, tied for fourth among Pac-12 players.
