USC’s Madison Sieg Wins Pac-12 Women’s Tennis Player of the Week

LOS ANGELES — USC women's tennis No. 2 ranked Madison Sieg has been recognized by the conference as the Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week for her stellar performance in USC's four matches over the weekend.

This is Sieg's first career Pac-12 Women's Tennis Player of the Week honor and the 44th all-time weekly honor for the Trojans.

In USC's first match of the weekend against Loyola Marymount, Sieg's win was a bright moment in the Trojan's 4-0 victory over the Lions. Sieg defeated Eva Marie Voracek 6-1, 6-1 on court two to post the Trojans first dual match singles win of the season. She also contributed in doubles, playing at No. 2 with senior Eryn Cayetano. The No. 20 ranked duo would defeat Voracek/Rogozinska (LMU) 6-1 to help USC win the doubles point.

Against CSUN, Sieg and Cayetano teamed up again, this time taking down Turchak/Zhytelna with a dominant 6-0 win on court two. The duo also recorded doubles wins against San Diego (6-0, court two) and San Diego State (6-3, center court) on Saturday, Jan. 21.

The Trojan freshman also made her Marks Stadium center court debut over the weekend, defeating USD's No. 29 Solymar Colling in straight sets (6-2, 6-3). She'd wrap up the weekend with one final singles win on center court against San Diego State's Tamara Arnold, recording a 6-2, 6-3 victory.

Sieg helped USC record some early points in their matches, defeating her opponents first against LMU, San Diego and San Diego State.
