USC Baseball Falls in Series Opener at No. 4 Stanford, 7-1

PALO ALTO, Calif. – The USC baseball team fell on the road in the series opener at No. 4 Stanford on Thursday night, dropping a 7-1 decision.
The Trojans fall to 25-26 overall on the year and 8-20 in Pac-12 play. Stanford moves to 35-14 overall and 19-9 in conference action.
An early two-run homer put the Cardinal up 2-0 in the first, and then the home team added two more in the third and one in the fourth to grab a 5-0 lead.
It took USC until the sixth inning to get on the board against Stanford ace Alex Williams, with Rhylan Thomas picking up the RBI for the Trojans on a single to right. The Cardinal would come back with a two-run homer in the bottom half of the inning to make it 7-1.
