The Trojans fall to 18-17 overall and 4-12 in Pac-12 play, while Utah improves to 22-14-1 overall on the season and 8-8 in conference action.

Utah scored in three of the first four innings, breaking the game open with a six-run fourth inning to make it 9-0. The Trojans scored two runs on singles by Tyresse Turner and Garret Guillemette in the bottom of the fourth.

USC added another run in the eighth inning on a couple of Utah errors, but that was it for the Trojan offense. The Utes scored in the sixth and then got a solo-homer from Kai Roberts in the ninth to cap the scoring.
Matthew Sox tossed a complete game for the visitors, giving up two earned runs on six hits through his 9.0 innings.
