The Women of Troy got 12 kills from Skylar Fields in a loss to the Cardinal

STANFORD, Calif. – The USC women's volleyball team (16-5, 8-2 Pac-12) had a seven-match win streak stopped in a three-set loss (25-15, 25-15, 25-16) to No. 7-ranked Stanford (14-4, 9-1) at Maples Pavilion on Sunday, Oct. 23.

KEY PLAYERS

Sr. OH Skylar Fields led the Trojans with 12 kills (5e, 26att, .269) and had six digs.
So. setter Mia Tuaniga put up 27 assists to go with two digs and a kill.
Gr. MB Kalyah Williams had six kills (0e) on eight swings to hit .750 and served and ace.
Fr. LIB Gala Trubint led the team with seven digs.
For the Cardinal, Kendall Kipp had 14 kills and hit .737. Elia Rubin hit .500 and picked up 12 kills. Kami Miner had 39 assists, four kills, and a service ace. Elena Oglivie led all players with 16 digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The teams stayed pace with each other through a 13-all tie in the first set, but the Cardinal reeled off an 8-0 run and seized a 25-15 win in the opening frame. Stanford had 16 kills and hit .556 in the first to outpace a .207 performance by the Trojans (9k, 3e, 29att).
Stanford served four of its seven aces in the second set and maintained a .474 hitting percentage to post another 25-15 win. USC was held to .087 hitting as the Cardinal picked up five blocks and got six kills from Rubin.
The Cardinal struck early in the third and maintained control to complete the sweep with a 25-16 win. Stanford had 22 kills without and error on 30 swings for a .733 hitting percentage. USC hit .360 with 10 kills (1e) on 25 attacks and got six kills from Fields and two from Fr. OH Jordan Wilson.

UP NEXT

The Trojans open the back half of conference play on the road and head to Salt Lake City to face Utah on Friday (Oct. 28) at Jon. M. Huntsman Center before heading to Boulder, Colo., for a matchup with Colorado on Sunday (Oct. 30).

MATCH NOTES

USC fell to 26-69-1 all-time against Stanford (7-40 as the visitor). It is Stanford's 10th straight victory in the series.
The Trojans had a season-long seven-match win streak snapped by the Cardinal.
