Senior Laticia Transom wins twice against Cardinal
Senior Laticia Transom won two events to highlight No. 10 USC's efforts during their 174-126 loss to No. 4 Stanford on Saturday (Jan. 29) at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center.
The Trojans fell to 4-2, 3-2 while Stanford improves to 6-0, 5-0.
Two-time Pac-12 Champion Transom had a stellar day of swims, picking up wins in both the 100y (49.03) and 200y freestyle (1:45.47). In the 200, Transom out-touched Stanford's Torri Huske by .37 and in the 100, just edged Huske by .03.
Trojan newcomer Caroline Pennington won the 1000y free for the second day in a row, posting a 9:52.08 for first. She was also second in the 500y free (4:51.91).
USC asserted their dominance in the breaststroke events, winning both the 100 and 200. Sophomore Dobler continued her reign in the 100y breast(1:01.53) while Odgers claimed the 200 (2:10.89). Touching closely behind her in the 200 was senior Calypso Sheridan (2:12.89) and junior Nicole Pavlopoulou (2:14.94) who finished 2-3, respectively.
In the diving well, USC's Farrah Volpinesta finished sixth on 3-meter with 308.55, punching her ticket to the NCAA Zone E Diving Championships. Trojan Nike Agunbiade was second on 1-meter (305.10) and third on 3-meter (315.45).
The Women of Troy closed the meet with a win in the 400y free relay as Transom, Anicka Delgado, Hanna Henderson and Dobler posted a 3:19.77 for first.
