Nine Trojans Pick Up MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athlete Status

USC men's water polo has another strong set of Trojans on the academic honor roll, with nine players named MPSF All-Academic Scholar-Athletes following the 2021 season. For senior Alexander Lansill and redshirt junior Hannes Daube, this year's accolades mark the third of their Trojan careers.

Four Trojans now have collected their second set of academic honors — senior Bennett Winther, juniors Marcus Longton and Chris Sturtevant and redshirt sophomore Chris Agliozzo. And ringing up their first career MPSF academic award in their first seasons of eligibility for the honor are grad student Wyatt Barker and sophomores Carson Kranz and Tom McGuire.

All nine played key roles in helping the Trojans earn a 17th straight trip to the NCAA tourney and 16th appearance in the final in that span. Seniors Winther and Lansill boast the top GPAs of the bunch, with a 3.69 and 3.52 cumulative GPA, respectively.

This season's MPSF academic honors went to athletes with 3.00 or better cumulative GPAs who are at least a sophomore academically and who have participated in at least 50 percent of their institution's competition. Athletes also must have completed one full academic year at their institution prior to the season for which the award is received.
