USC's Eryn Cayetano Wins Singles Championship at Fall Ranked Spotlight

The USC women's tennis team had a strong showing over the weekend at the Fall Ranked Spotlight as junior Eryn Cayetano won the Singles Championship and the pairs of Cayetano/Piper and Ewing/Han each won their doubles flights.

The tournament, hosted by NC State in Raleigh, N.C., was riddled with national talent. En route to the championship, No 56 Cayetano upset Miami's No. 16 Isabella Pfenning (3-6, 6-2, 6-0) and NC State's No. 23 Alana Smith (6-1, 6-2).

Senior No. 18 Salma Ewing reached the Quarterfinals of the singles tournament, and on the way, defeated Princeton's No. 102 Brianna Shvets 7-5, 6-2 in the Round of 16.Â

In doubles, both Trojan tandems (Cayetano/Piper and Ewing/Han) blasted through their matches with decisive wins to each claim their individual flights.Â
