USC Men's Volleyball Swept On Road By Concordia

Raymond Barsemian had 18 kills while hitting .500 to lead the Concordia men's volleyball team to a 25-23, 25-22, 25-22 sweep over visiting USC in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match in Irvine on Thursday (March 11).
Concordia improved to 3-6 overall and in the MPSF, while USC lost its seventh consecutive match and fell to 1-7 overall and in the MPSF. It is Troy's longest losing skid since dropping 7 in a row twice in 2018.
The teams conclude their 3-match series on Saturday (March 13) when the Trojans welcome the Eagles back to the Galen Center at 5 p.m. PT. In the series' first match on March 6, Concordia posted a 5-set victory at USC.
Brandon Browning led USC with 16 kills while hitting .406, Billy Fauntleroy added 12 kills, Clay Dickinson had 9 kills and Cole Paxson and Chris Hall each had 8 digs.
Jordan Hoppe had 10 kills for Concordia, Addison Enriques had 12 digs and Jonathan Carlson had 6 digs.
Concordia hit .333 to USC's .278. The Trojans had more digs, 33 to 28.
Concordia used a 5-0 run in the first set to build a 15-13 lead before USC tied it at 17-17, but late in the set the Eagles tallied 2 straight points to go up 22-20 and the Trojans couldn't catch up (CU hit .471 to USC's .462 in the set).
USC clawed back from a 3-point deficit in the second set to knot it at 17-17, but soon after Concordia moved ahead 20-18 and again the Trojans couldn't recover.
In the third set, Concordia scored 5 unanswered points to go up 19-16 and was able to hold off the Trojans.
