USC’s Sean Wang, Ben Dillard Named Pac-12 Diver, Swimmer Of The Month
December 07, 2021 | Men's Swimming & Diving
Both earn their first conference honors after strong performances throughout November.
Sophomore swimmer Ben Dillard and freshman diver Sean Wang received Pac-12 monthly honors after impressive November campaigns, as announced by the conference Tuesday (Dec. 7).
Sophomore Dillard went undefeated in the 200y breaststroke during the month of November, winning three times for Troy while on the road. At the Art Adamson Invite he took the event in a personal best 1:52.44 to set a USC school record set by Steven Stumph in 2015 (1:52.50) and notch an NCAA B-cut. He was also fourth in the 200y IM (1:44.55) and sixth in the 100y breast (53.24). Against Arizona and Arizona State, Dillard won the 200y breaststroke twice and was second in the 100y breast on both occasions.
During his debut as a Trojan diver, freshman Wang won twice, taking the men's 1-meter (308.10) and 3-meter (371.60) competition against Arizona. A week later, USC returned home to host the Trojan Diving Invitational, where Wang emerged victorious on 3-meter (887.75, 437.15 from prelims) and finished second on 1-meter (717.00).
With these awards, both Dillard and Wang secured their first career conference honors.
