Evan Mobley Named To Wooden Award Midseason Watch List

Forward one of 25 players named, one of four freshmen
USC men's basketball freshman forward Evan Mobley has been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top 25 Watch List as chosen by a poll of national college basketball experts, it was announced today (Jan. 6). The list is comprised of 25 student-athletes who are the early front-runners for the most prestigious honors in college basketball, the Wooden Award All American Team™ and Most Outstanding Player Award. Mobley is one of four freshman to make the watch list.

The 7-0 Mobley is averaging a team-leading 15.0 points and 8.0 rebounds per game, while leading the team with 23 blocks and a .587 shooting percentage. The freshman forward currently ranks among the Pac-12's top players in scoring (11th), rebounds (3rd), field goal percentage (3rd) and blocks (1st). Mobley ranks 13th in the country in blocks per game (2.9) and first among all freshmen. He has scored in double figures and has seven rebounds or more in seven of eight games played.

In the preseason, Mobley received a multitude of honors including begin named to the 2021 NABC Player of the Year Watch List, the 2021 Naismith Trophy Watch List, the 2021 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar Center of the Year Award Watch List and being named to the 2020-21 Pac-12 Men's Basketball Preseason Media All-Conference First Team. Â

Mobley was the 2020 Morgan Wooten High School Player of the Year, a McDonald's All-American and a two-time California Gatorade Player of the Year. He signed with USC as the nation's No. 1-ranked recruit, the first time that USC men's basketball landed the top-ranked signee.

Mobley averaged 20.5 points, 12.2 rebounds, 5.2 blocks and 4.6 assists last season as a senior at Rancho Christian School in Temecula, Calif.
