Henry Fusaro Earns CoSIDA Academic All-District At-Large Honor
May 21, 2020 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Features
Recent USC diving graduate Henry Fusaro was named to the 2019-2020 CoSIDA Academic All-District® At-Large team for District 8 on Thursday (May 21), as voted on by the College Sports Information Directors of America.
The Academic All-District Teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, as only student-athletes who maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.30 and are significant contributors to their team's success are eligible for nomination.
Fusaro, the first Trojan All-District selection since 2018 when swimmer Pawel Furtek earned it for the second year in a row, will advance to the Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced on June 19.
The 2020 Pac-12 Swim/Dive Scholar Athlete of the Year, Fusaro has repeatedly been recognized for both his academic and athletic performance. Fusaro graduated last week as a dual major in Philosophy, Politics and Law and Law, History and Culture, all while boasting an impressive 3.71 G.P.A. He is also a two-time College Swimming and Diving Coaches Associate (CSCAA) Scholar-All-American and a Pac-12 All-Academic Second Team Honoree (2018.) Just last month, Fusaro earned CSCAA All-American honors for the first time on 1-meter and 3-meter.
Fusaro, this year's Trojan diving team captain, recorded three wins against USC's Bay Area rivals, giving him seven this season in dual-meet action, including three Pac-12 sweeps (against ASU, Arizona and Stanford) on springboard. This season, he also posted wins on the 1- and 3-meter boards at both the Trojan and Utah Diving Invitationals and was second on both boards at the Bruin Invite. To date, the senior has 22 dual-meet and invitational titles. Most recently, Fusaro finished third on men's 3-meter with 404.30 at the 2020 Pac-12 Men's Diving Championships.
