Miller and Hertford Receive Inside Lacrosse All-America Honors

The two Women of Troy were chosen to the publication’s second and third All-America teams
LOS ANGELES – USC senior midfielder Kerrigan Miller (Bayport, N.Y.) and junior goalie Riley Hertford (Lake Oswego, Ore.) were each named to the 2020 Inside Lacrosse Maverik Media Women's All-America teams on Tuesday, March 31.
Miller was named to the second team. She was a third-team Inside Lacrosse choice in 2018 and received honorable mention twice (2017, 2019). In six games, Miller scored 10 goals and had an assist for 11 points. She led the team with eight caused turnovers and was second in ground balls (16) and draw controls (13).
Hertford was chosen to the third team. She pushed her career win total to 22 and had the Trojans undefeated at 6-0. Hertford led the Pac-12 in saves per game (10.00 spg) and goals-against average (8.08 gaa). She was also in the top 10 nationally in each category when play was stopped. Hertford led the Trojans in ground balls (17) and was second in caused turnovers (7).
The publication noted that the 2020 All-America team is unique due to the truncated nature of the season, but felt it was important to recognize the accomplishments of the players. Contributors and members of the lacrosse media were tasked with choosing the season's top 12 attackers, nine midfielders, 12 defenders, three draw specialists, and three goalies. Honorable mention selections were chosen based on players who received multiple votes, but did not accrue the totals of the first, second, or third honorees.
The Women of Troy were undefeated through six games and ranked No. 7 in the final IWLCA Coaches Poll of 2020. USC had produced a 5-0 mark in home games and was 2-0 in the Pac-12. The Trojans' fifth win of the season was the 100th of eighth-year head coach Lindsey Munday's career. She is 101-42 (.706) all-time with the Women of Troy. USC was the defending Pac-12 regular-season and tournament champion and will have a chance to defend that title in 2021.
