Riley Hertford Named Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week

The Trojans’ junior goalie received her third-career conference weekly honor
SAN FRANCISCO – USC lacrosse junior goalie Riley Hertford (Lake Oswego, Ore.) was chosen as the Pac-12 Defensive Player of the Week for the week of Feb. 10-16, the league announced on Monday, Feb. 17. Arizona State junior attacker Emily Glagolev received the Offensive Player of the Week honor.
Hertford receives her third-career Pac-12 weekly award, which is most among Women of Troy all-time. Hertford's prowess in goal helped the Trojans to a 10-8 win over ninth-ranked Michigan on Saturday (Feb. 15). It was USC's first win over a top-10 opponent since a victory over No. 2-ranked Florida in the 2017 NCAA tournament. The win over the Wolverines was Hertford's 18th-career victory. She produced six saves and picked up five ground balls to go with one caused turnover in the victory.
The Pac-12 is in its third season of women's lacrosse. Trojans have earned conference weekly honors 13 times (nine defensive and four offensive). USC players have swept the weekly awards on three occasions; and All-American midfielder Kerrigan Miller became the first player in league history to receive both the offensive (March 19, 2018) and defensive (March 11, 2019) awards in her career.
No. 13 USC (2-0) hosts 15th-ranked Boston College (2-1) on Friday (Feb. 21) for a 3 p.m. PT first draw. The Trojans then take on San Diego State (0-1) on Sunday (Feb. 23) at noon in a match that will be shown live on the Pac-12+ streaming platform.
