USC Men Open 2020 Ranked No. 3 in the Land
January 08, 2020 | Men's Tennis, Features
With eight ranked Trojans entering the spring, USC is looking strong for 2020.
USC men's tennis kicks off its 2020 campaign looming large at No. 3 in the ITA national preseason rankings. It's a significant bump from the Trojans' final 2019 rank of No. 8, and reflective of the remarkable depth and talent that USC carries into this 2020 spring competition under the direction of head coach Brett Masi.Â
For the first time since 2013, USC has seven Trojans ranked nationally in singles along with four ranked doubles pairs. Additionally, USC has its first top-ranked singles player since 2012 in junior Daniel Cukierman.
USC's No. 3 team ranking is the highest held by the Trojans since they sat at No. 1 and No. 2 during the 2015 season.
The Trojans officially start 2020 action next week at the Sherwood Collegiate Cup, running Jan. 17-20 in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Team competition gets underway soon after, with USC hosting ITA Kick-Off Weekend at Mark Stadium Jan. 25-26.
This fall, USC had Trojans win at least one individual title at five out of seven tournaments competed in.
