January 16, 2020 | Men's Swimming & Diving, Women's Swimming & Diving, Features
USC, led by senior men's diver and 2018 Pac-12 Champion, Henry Fusaro as well as senior women's diver, Naomi Gowlett and talented newcomer Nike Agunbiade, will compete at the Bruin Diving Invitational in Westwood, Calif., Friday through Sunday (Jan. 17-19) at the Spieker Aquatics Center.
Along with host UCLA and a total of 17 different schools, divers from USC, Hawai'i, California, Stanford, Utah, Northern Arizona, and UNLV will compete on all three specialties. Results will be available at DiveMeets.org.
Action Friday begins with women's 1-meter and men's 3-meter, Saturday features women's 3-meter and men's platform. The event concludes Sunday with women's platform and men's 1-meter. Competition begins at 10:30 a.m. each day, prelims will be followed by finals. The top 18 prelim performers on springboard advance to finals while the top 12 advance on platform.
Six Trojans will represent USC during the invite including four women's divers -- seniors Carly Souza and Naomi Gowlett and freshmen Nike Agunbiade and Savannah Stocker. Two USC men's divers will also compete – senior Henry Fusaro and freshman George Korovin. All six divers have already posted NCAA qualifying scores this season.
At the Trojan Diving Invitational held in November, the Women of Troy dominated competition, sweeping 3-meter and platform. Agunbiade won both the 3-meter and platform while on men's side, Fusaro won 3-meter and 1-meter. Korovin took the men's platform and finished third on 1-meter.
Fusaro and Gowlett return as two of the Pac-12's top divers and are accompanied by freshman Agunbiade who is coming off two first place finishes, taking both the 1-meter and 3-meter at the Utah Diving Invitational in December.
