
Trojans Dominate in Washington

No. 8 USC remains undefeated
The No. 8 Trojan women's squad came out on top after defeating Pac-12 rival Washington State on Friday, Jan. 10. The team, which consisted of only 9 out of a possible 20 scorers, outscored the cougars by 53 points to take the meet held at Gibb Pool.
Freshman Nicole Pavlopoulou took the 1000y free (10:33.73) to start the evening with an individual win for the Trojans. She later followed it up with a win in the 500y free (5:06.85.) Fellow freshman Aela Janvier picked up two individual wins of her own, dominating both the 100y (56.20) and 200y (2:01.10) backstroke.
Sophomore Isa Odgers won the 100y breast (1:02.61) and the 400y IM (4:25.16). She also took the 200y breast (2:13.04) setting a Gibb Pool record and picking up her third individual win of the evening. Senior Louise Hansson also set a Gibb Pool record of her own in the 100y fly, posting a 53.98.
Other wins came from Marta Ciesla who took both the 50y (23.64) and 100y free (50.21). Jemma Schlicht rounded out the 1-2 finish in both sprint free events with a 23.84 in the 50y free and 56.48 in the 100y free.
The Trojan women's squad won both relays, taking the 200y free relay (Janvier, Maggie Aroesty, Hansson, Ciesla – 1:42.68) and 200y Medley relay (Ciesla, Hansson, Hanni Leach, Pavlopoulou – 1:35.14) to round out the evening.
Next week the Women of Troy return home to host Minnesota at the Uytengsu Aquatics Center, Fri., Jan. 17 at 2 PM PT.
