Reiter tied for 10th after his second-best round as a Trojan.
Sophomore Charlie Reiter fired a 4-under 67 – his second-best round as as a Trojan – to lead the USC men's golf team in the second round of the Nike Golf Collegiate Invite at the Pumpkin Ridge G.C. in Witch Hollow, Ore., on Monday (Sept. 30).
The Trojans, playing without freshman Yuxin Lin who won the Asia-Pacific Amateur title in China on Sunday, are tied for 12th at 4-over 572 (285-287) after 36 holes.
Reiter moved into a tie for 10th at 5-under 137 (70-67) thanks to his best round of the young season and the fourth under par in five rounds. Starting on 10 today, Reiter went out at 3-under and was 4-under before his only blip, a double on 5. He bounced back with birdies on 7 and 9 to close his day and pull within four of the lead.
Senior Kyle Suppa (74-73) and junior Issei Tanabe (68-79) are USC's next highest on the leaderboard, tied for 55th at 5-over. Suppa had two birdies on the day.
Junior Kaito Onishi, in his first event this year, is tied for 63rd at 6-over 148 (73-75) while sophomore Cameron Henry is tied for 74th at 12-over 154 (82-72), his 1-over second round the second-best effort of the day for the Trojans. He had an eagle on 9 to go with two birdies.
USC will tee off of 10 again to start the third round Tuesday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
