USC head rowing coach Josh Adam announced the addition of two new transfer student-athletes to the women's rowing team today (Aug. 9). Veronica Bumbaca and Anastasia Slivina will join the Women of Troy in the fall of 2019.
"Veronica and Anastasia are two stellar students, athletes, rowers and great personal fits for the Trojan Rowing Family," said Adam. "Their international rowing experience should have an immediate impact on the team. As people, they will bring an equally positive impact. I can't wait to get them to Troy."
Veronica Bumbaca transfers in from the University of Turin in Turin, Italy. Bumbaca began rowing in 2017, and in her first year in the sport, she qualified for the FISA Junior World Championships where her boat placed fifth in the grand final.
She began competing for the U23 Italian National Rowing Team in 2018, when she won the 4+ and placed fourth in the 4- at the 2018 Italian Championships. The following year, she placed second in the 8+ and third in the 4- at the 2019 Italian Championships.
Anastasia Slivina transfers to USC from the National Academy of Security Service of Ukraine. Slivina competes for the Ukrainian Rowing Federation and races in one of the top two boats for her country. She holds many impressive accolades including placing first in the 4+ at the 2019 Ukrainian Junior Championships. Also in 2019, she placed third in the 2- and third in the 8+ at the Ukrainian U23 Championships, and won the 8+ and finished second in the 2- at the Kiev Open U23 Championships.
Both student-athletes will arrive at Troy in the fall of 2019.
