Six More High School Players Sign With USC Men's Volleyball

LOS ANGELES—Six more high school volleyball players—6-1 libero Gus Acord of Campbell Hall High in Studio City (Calif.), 6-6 middle blocker-outside hitter Andrew Condon of Villa Park (Calif.) High, 6-6 opposite hitter Lucas Frassrand of Richard Montgomery High in Rockville (Md.), 6-7 outside hitter Simon Gallas from Germany, 6-6 opposite hitter Corbitt Kerr of St. Augustine High in San Diego (Calif.) and 6-0 setter Shane Suxho of Santa Margarita High in Rancho Santa Margarita (Calif.)—have signed with the USC men's volleyball program and will join the team in the fall of 2019, Trojan head coach Jeff Nygaard announced today (Aug. 20).
They join a pair of previously-announced prep standouts who signed with USC in late 2018 and who also will come aboard this fall: 6-8 middle blocker Max Beck of Canyon High in Anaheim (Calif.) and 6-3 outside hitter Adam Flood of Corona del Mar (Calif.) High.
Acord made 2019 All-CIF Division 4 first team as a senior at at Campbell Hall. He had 97 kills (hitting .320), 112 digs, 225 assists and 24 aces in 2019. As a 2018 junior, he had 19 kills, 49 digs, 107 assists and 13 aces. He played for Team Rockstar Volleyball Club.
Condon made 2018 All-North Hills League first team as a junior at Villa Park High. He played for the Pulse Athletics Volleyball Club, helping the team to second at the 2017 USAV Junior Olympics 17 Club Division.
Frassrand made 2018 All-Montgomery County Public Schools first team as a junior and 2017 All-Montgomery County Public Schools second team as a sophomore at Richard Montgomery High. He played for The Volleyball Practice Volleyball Club, helping the team to third at the 2018 USAV Junior Olympics 18 Club Division. He also played beach volleyball. He was a National Merit Award finalist.
Gallas was a member of Germany's Youth national team that won the 2018 U19/U18 European Championship and qualified for the 2019 FIVB U19 World Championship in Tunisia in August 2019. He played for the SSC Karlsruhe volleyball club in 2019, a Bundesliga South Second Division team. He was MVP of the the 2018 and 2019 international BearWool Volley tournament while playing for the Baden-Wurttemberg U18 team. He also previously played for the TV Buhl and USC Konstanz clubs. He also played beach volleyball.
Kerr was a 2018 All-Eastern League MVP as a junior at St. Augustine High. He was on the 2017 USAV Boys Select A1 National Training Team. He played for the Coast Volleyball Club.
Suxho was the 2019 All-Trinity League MVP as a senior at Santa Margarita High. He made the 2018 All-Trinity League first team as a junior. He played for the 949 Volleyball Club. His father, Donald, a native of Albania, lettered at setter for USC (1997-2000), where he was the 2000 College Player of the Year and a 2-time All-American first teamer (1999-2000) while leading the 2000 Trojans to the league title and setting USC records for assists in a match and aces in a season and career, then played in the 2004 and 2012 Olympics for the USA and played professionally in Europe.
Beck made 2019 Volleyballmag.com Fab 50 as a senior at Canyon High. He earned 2018 All-Crestview League first team honors as a junior. He also played basketball at Canyon. He played for the Pulse Athletics Volleyball Club.
Flood made 2019 Volleyballmag.com Fab 50, All-CIF Division 1 first team and All-Surf League Co-MVP as a senior at Corona del Mar High. He made 2018 All-Pacific Coast League second team honors as a junior at Corona del Mar, which won the 2018 CIF Division 1 and SoCal Regional Division I championships. He played for the Balboa Bay Volleyball Club, helping his team win gold medals at the Junior Olympics in 2015 (14 Open), 2016 (15 Open) and 2017 (16 Open). He made the 15 Open All-Tournament team in 2016. His brother, Tyler, is a sophomore middle blocker at NYU.
In 2019, USC went 18-11 (its most wins since 2015), finished with a No. 5 national ranking, was the MPSF Tournament runnerup and qualified for the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2012. The Trojans had 7 wins over Top 10 teams, went undefeated (12-0) at home for the first time since 2000 and won 11 of their last 15 matches. USC snapped eventual NCAA champion Long Beach State's 23-match winning streak, had back-to-back wins over UCLA for the first time since 2011 and posted its first 3-0 sweep over BYU since 1991.
In its history, the USC men's volleyball program has captured 4 NCAA championships while appearing in 15 NCAA tourneys and has produced 20 Olympians, 34 All-Americans and 7 College Players of the Year.
